Drawstring Ponytail(467)

Great question—choosing the right drawstring ponytail comes down to how you want it to blend and the vibe you’re going for.

• Length: Think about where you want the ponytail to fall (shoulders, mid-back, or longer). If you’re unsure, a mid-length option is a versatile starting point.
• Texture: Match your natural pattern for a seamless blend—options often include silky straight, body wave, deep wave, curly, kinky-curly, and afro puff.
• Color: Pick the shade closest to your root color. Many listings use shade codes (like natural black or mixed highlight tones); check product photos and customer reviews for real-life references.
• Density/Volume: Choose lighter volume for a subtle look or fuller volume for statement styles.

When in doubt, compare photos in natural light and review the product details for texture and color notes.

Installing a drawstring ponytail can be quick and gentle with a few simple steps.

1. Prep your hair: Smooth hair into a small bun or ponytail at your desired height. Work on clean, dry hair to reduce slip.
2. Position the piece: Place the top comb under your bun/ponytail base, then secure the bottom comb.
3. Tighten gradually: Pull the drawstring evenly until snug—avoid overtightening to minimize tension on edges and scalp.
4. Tuck and secure: Wrap and tuck the cord into the built-in pocket or under the base. Add a few bobby pins around the perimeter for extra hold.
5. Comfort check: It should feel secure but comfortable. If you notice pulling or soreness, loosen and reposition.

These steps can help improve hold and comfort, but fit may vary by piece and hair type.

You can wear a drawstring ponytail for light workouts, but a few tweaks can help it stay comfortable.

• Exercise: Add extra pins, use a sweatband to protect your hairline, and secure the drawstring end so it doesn’t loosen. Afterward, let the piece air out and gently detangle as needed.
• Heat and moisture: Keep high heat (like direct blow-dryers) away from synthetic fibers unless the piece is labeled heat-safe. Chlorine and saltwater can tangle fibers, so removing the piece before swimming is often easier.
• Sleeping: Removing it at night typically reduces tangling and tension. If you sleep in it, use a satin bonnet or pillowcase and keep the ponytail loosely secured.

Comfort and longevity can vary based on fiber type and how it’s worn.

Care is a bit different for synthetic versus human-hair pieces, so always check the product’s care label first.

1. Detangle dry: Start from the ends and work up using fingers or a wide-tooth comb. For tight curls, finger-detangling is gentler.
2. Wash gently: In cool to lukewarm water, add a small amount of wig-friendly shampoo. Swish the piece; avoid rubbing or twisting.
3. Rinse and condition: Rinse thoroughly. For human hair, a light conditioner can help. For synthetic, use a conditioner designed for synthetic fibers if recommended.
4. Dry: Blot with a towel—don’t wring. Air-dry on a stand to keep the shape.

• Styling: Heat-style only if the listing states heat-safe. Use lightweight products to avoid buildup.
• Storage: Store in a breathable bag or on a stand to prevent tangles.

Return options depend on the item’s specific policy, which you’ll find on its product page. Many hairpieces must be unopened, unused, and in original packaging for hygiene reasons, but policies can vary—especially for items sold by third-party sellers on the Walmart Marketplace.

• Check the product page: Look for the return window and eligibility details.
• Start a return: Initiate through your Walmart account or app; mail-in and in-store options may be available based on the item.
• Keep packaging: Hold onto tags, nets, and boxes until you’re sure about the color.
• Tip: If you’re between shades, some shoppers order two and return the unopened one that isn’t a match (subject to the item’s policy).

Time frames and methods may vary by item and location.
