Cordlock(462)

A cord lock is a small device that helps tighten and secure cords and drawstrings without tying knots. It typically uses a spring-loaded toggle you squeeze to adjust, then release to hold.

• Commonly used on backpacks, jackets, hoodies, shoelaces, and bags.
• Available in single-hole or double-hole designs for one or two strands.
• Found in plastic, silicone, and metal options with many colors and pack sizes.

When shopping, match the cord lock’s hole size to your cord (for example, some 5 mm models work with 550 paracord) and choose a style that suits your project.

If you want a quick DIY alternative, a simple bead-and-knot approach can work for light projects.

1. Choose a bead with a hole slightly larger than your cord.
2. Thread the bead onto the cord.
3. Tie a stopper knot below the bead to set the adjustment point.
4. Optionally tie a second knot above the bead to limit travel.

This can provide basic adjustability, but hold strength varies by materials and use. For smoother operation and consistent grip, pre-made spring-loaded cord locks available at Walmart are convenient. Always test your setup gently to make sure it doesn’t slip.

You’ll find several cord lock styles to fit different needs:

• Single-hole: For one cord or drawstring.
• Double-hole / dual-slot: For two strands or added stability.
• Barrel, round ball, bean, ellipse shapes: Different forms for grip and aesthetics.
• Silicone adjusters: Softer feel for comfort.
• Metal cord end locks: Durable caps that finish and secure cord ends.
• Detachable two-hole options: Allow threading adjustments or removal.

Sizes range from about 5 mm to 6 mm and 1/4-inch, and many come in assorted colors and pack counts. Pick a style based on your cord type and how you want it to adjust.

Yes—people often use different names for the same kind of device. The terms “cord lock,” “toggle,” “stopper,” “cord stop,” “lace lock,” and “cord end” are commonly used on drawstrings, shoelaces, backpacks, and similar gear.

• Toggle/stopper/cord lock: Usually a spring-loaded adjuster you squeeze and slide.
• Cord end/cord end lock: Caps or finishes the end of a cord; may also add grip.

Product naming can vary across listings, so it helps to check the photos and specifications—especially hole size and the number of holes—to make sure you’re getting the style you want.

Size comes down to matching the lock’s hole to your cord.

1. Measure your cord’s diameter. Elastic and paracord vary by brand.
2. Choose a hole slightly larger than the cord so it feeds smoothly.
3. As a reference, some 5 mm locks are designed for 550 paracord; thicker cords may need 6 mm or 1/4-inch options.
4. For elastic or bungee, consider heavier-duty clamp styles for better grip.

Review product details for hole size, material, and number of holes. Testing with a single piece of cord before finishing your project can help you confirm the fit and adjustability.
