The term checkered refers to a pattern made up of alternating squares, usually in two or more colors. In home decor, checkered designs can add a playful or classic touch to items like blankets, tote bags, planters, and rugs. This pattern works well in various styles, from modern to farmhouse, and can help create visual interest in a room. Whether you're looking for cozy throws or stylish storage solutions, checkered items offer versatility and a timeless look.

Both checkered and chequered mean the same thing—a pattern of squares. The difference comes down to regional spelling:

• Checkered is the preferred spelling in American English.
• Chequered is commonly used in British English.

While checkered and checked are sometimes used interchangeably, there are subtle differences.

• Checkered usually describes a pattern made of alternating colored squares.

• They're ideal for carrying essentials, whether you're heading to work, shopping, or on a weekend trip.
• Many designs feature zippered closures and multiple compartments for organization.
