Cardboard picture frames go by several names.

• Paper picture frames: lightweight sleeves for common photo sizes.
• Photo folders or photomount folders: foldable cardstock holders for events and gifting.
• Cardboard frames or cardboard mat frames: simple cutouts with an opening.
• Corrugated cardboard frames: thicker, textured versions for crafts.
• Hanging photo frame kits: paper frames with clips and string for banners.

You’ll find options for 4x6, 5x7, 8x10 and more, including sets for kids’ artwork and displays with protective film windows. Names vary by style, but they’re all budget-friendly ways to showcase photos.

Start with your photo’s dimensions, then consider the display style.

1. Measure the print: Common sizes include 4x6, 5x7, and 8x10.
2. With or without a mat: Some frames use a mat to fit smaller prints (e.g., an 8.5x11 certificate displayed within an 11x14 frame).
3. Check the opening/window size: Paper frames list the cutout size, which can differ from the outer dimensions.
4. Plan placement: Tabletop easel frames need stability; hanging kits favor lighter photos.

Comparing product measurements and the intended use can help you choose a frame that fits your image and space comfortably.

Cardboard and paper frames are a cost-conscious option.

• Multipacks: Bulk sets can lower the per-frame cost for classrooms, events, or galleries.
• Photo folders: Foldable sleeves are simple for gifting or storage.
• Clip-and-string kits: Create wall banners without hardware-heavy frames.
• Easel-backed paper frames: Stand photos on desks with minimal materials.

Shopping online lets you filter by size, color, and quantity and choose delivery or pickup. These approaches can help keep costs down while still making your photos look polished.

There are lightweight alternatives that still look neat.

• Paper picture frames with transparent film windows for a clean display.
• Photo folders for handing out prints at events or storing keepsakes.
• Hanging kits with jute twine and mini clips for photo banners.
• Poster frames and matted displays for larger art without heavy hardware.
• Hinged tabletop frames to show two prints side-by-side.

Choose based on weight, size, and where you’ll display the image. Paper and cardboard options are easy to customize and decorate for parties, classrooms, or home walls.

Gentle handling helps paper and cardboard frames look their best.

• Dust lightly with a dry, soft cloth; avoid moisture and harsh cleaners.
• Protect the print using frames that include a clear film or by storing photos in folders.
• Display thoughtfully: Keep away from direct sunlight, high humidity, and high-traffic areas.
• Store flat in a cool, dry place to help prevent warping.
• Use removable hooks or low-tack tape for hanging banners, checking wall compatibility first.

Care routines may vary by material and wall surface, but these tips can help maintain a neat, long-lasting display.
