Cute design, but Bluey feature doesn't work

The toaster is super cute and the lights are a nice touch, which is why I was excited to give it as a gift. Unfortunately, it does not leave the Bluey image on the toast as advertised. It only toasts one side, and regardless of the setting, the Bluey design never appears, the bread just gets darker on that side. I was really disappointed because this was meant to be a fun and functional gift for a friend, but instead it has ended up being used more as decoration than an actual toaster.
