Yes, “Life is a Highway” is an overplayed song, but Cars is a genuinely good movie. The cars of Radiator Springs all have their own distinct personalities, and there is enough humor to overshadow McQueen's initial arrogance. The relationship between Lightning and Sally is one for the ages, and you can't go wrong with the movie's selfless ending. Also, Doc Hudson is the ideal “father figure” in this movie, and I'm glad that they expanded upon his story in the Cars sequels. Altogether, Cars has the charm to capture our hearts every time (even if it feels like a sort of cash grab), and the story of Lightning McQueen is fast-paced and ingenious enough to bring me back for more.
