I assembled this alone. Unfortunately, I placed 2 of the dowels incorrectly and had to drill them out and replace them but it turned out fine. This occurred because I assembled it alone and became distracted while so doing. I can't blame the manufacturer for this! And I did pay close attention to the weight limits of each shelf since they are being used for books and so far so good but I do know I have to pay attention to how much weight is on each shelf. I would prefer something sturdier just in case and these are working well. While they are inexpensive, they look pretty darn good and fit right in with my budget.
