Protecting tree bark is important for keeping your trees healthy and safe from damage. Tree bark protectors are designed to shield trunks from animals, lawn equipment, and harsh weather. You can use mesh guards, spiral wraps, or plastic tubes to create a barrier around the trunk.

• Mesh guards help keep out animals like deer and rabbits.
• Plastic wraps can prevent mower and trimmer damage.
• Some wraps also offer protection from sunscald and frost.

Always make sure the protector fits snugly but allows the tree to breathe and grow.

The best tree trunk protector depends on your specific needs and the threats your trees face.

• Wire mesh guards are great for keeping out animals like squirrels and deer.
• Plastic spiral wraps are easy to install and protect against lawn tools.
• Breathable fabric wraps can help with winter protection.

Look for protectors that are adjustable, weather-resistant, and allow air flow. Consider the height and diameter of your tree when choosing the right size. Walmart offers a variety of options to suit different garden setups.

If you want to seal and protect a tree stump, you can use a tree wrap or bark protector designed for stumps. These products help prevent moisture loss and shield the stump from pests and weather.

• Cover the stump with a breathable material to avoid rot.
• Plastic or mesh protectors can keep animals and lawn tools away.
• Some people use mulch rings for added protection and soil health.

Always follow the product instructions and avoid sealing with non-breathable materials, which can trap moisture and cause decay.

People sometimes wrap aluminum foil around tree trunks to deter pests like insects and rodents. The shiny surface can confuse or repel certain animals, and it may help protect young trees from sunscald. However, aluminum foil isn't a long-term solution and can restrict air flow.

• Tree bark protectors made of mesh or plastic are safer and more effective.
• Foil can be used temporarily, but specialized protectors are better for ongoing care.

Always use products designed for tree health to avoid damaging the bark.

Choosing the right size tree guard is key for proper protection.

• Measure the diameter and height of your tree trunk.
• Select a guard that covers the trunk fully without restricting growth.
• Expandable protectors are great for saplings that will grow quickly.
• Make sure the guard is tall enough to protect against animals and lawn equipment.

Walmart offers a range of sizes and adjustable options, so you can find a fit for everything from young saplings to mature trees.
