Low profile high quality baby gate

This is my second purchase of the retractable baby gate. You can find cheaper options but this one has a locking mechanism and is higher quality overall. We went with this after using a traditional metal gate with threaded feet that took up lots of space when installed (pretty much permanently) and only allowed a small space to enter and exit thru. This gate when retracted only takes up a few inches on either side of the opening you have this installed in front of. We have two installed at our home; one each on the top and bottom of our staircase. It has made traveling thru the gate upstairs and down much easier, now that both retract to allow for nearly the full width of the stairs to be used instead of a narrow portion thru a metal gate. This does require drilling holes in the wall but it's well worth it in my opinion. We installed the gate slightly different upstairs vs downstairs. Refer to the pics for a few options for installing. Overall very happy for the cost and quality.

Excellent gate, sturdy and looks nice

Ignore the directions, use the provided templates. The templates make it self explanatory. I also like that they provided two sets of s rews for use depending on where the gate is being installed. They also include shims which can come in handy,again, depending on where you are installing it.

I bought this just to use at night to keep my pets from wandering down the stairs. The gate and price is fine for that use. I would recommend one of the metal baby gates if this were something that I was opening and shutting constantly as it isn't as easy to open as the metal ones. The handle isn't centered so you need both hands to open it.
