these collars are great for teaching dogs to walk or play of leash. They are not "shock" collars but instead give a strong enough beep and vibrations to get your dogs attention. I have 1 dog who is scared of everything and 1 who has no fears. This works for both. The scaredy dog just needs the beep to get his attention while the other needs the beep plus high vibration to get him to come back. My only complaint is the buttons are very sensitive. At first I tried keeping the remote in my pocket but just walking would set it off. So I use the lanyard and hang it around my neck with no accidental button press.
