I have a Great Dane so it may not be much shock to him because he barks through it when the neighbors dogs are out. I think it's because his adrenaline is so high he probably do not care much. At night he does not bark much if at all anymore which was the main issues.

We bought this for our Chihuahua who barks at everything that makes a noise in the city! We tried another collar that didn't work. We put this on her in the morning and by late afternoon, no barking! Unfortunately we have another dog that barks with excitement when we are about to let them out and it sets off the collar. We toke it off after one day and her barking is under control. We do not use the shock feature. The noise and vibration work perfectly.
