As a Pediatric nurse who works with special need children I immediately was drawn to the design and beauty. It far exceeded my expectations when compared to the picture of the blanket. I know exactly how comforting such blankets are to children, and I was truly impressed with the weighted blanket. Parents are always striving toward finding the best gift, for their children, and honestly if a parent with a special need child tried to purchase this item from a book, for their child it would cost a fortune. The quality wouldn't even come close to this product, and I felt immediately grateful, for the families who would be shocked at the price as well examining the quality of the product. Years ago, I had a beautiful little girl that I cared, for who was in need of such a gift, but the price was far more to purchase. Her mother told her grandmother, and the grandmother lovingly created one, for her. While it was heavier because each child has different needs it too was another challenge that parents with special need children have to deal with which is unfair. Finally, someone has provided a beautiful gift that all parents can enjoy, (in this weighted blanket), instead of having to look in a therapy book to find a real pattern that a child would be drawn to without the exorbitant price to meet their child's needs;therefore, I love it immensely. I ponder if the proverbial ‘level playing field' has finally arrived. Now, if this could become a touchstone toward other things children enjoy such as toys, clothing, and parks, so all parents could finally meet their children needs in the same manner. It seems that if anything is, for a child who has special needs their parents have to fight, for everything to express love to their child, and they generally have to pay far more to obtain what other parents simply buy at the store. I truly commend the person who made this weighted blanket.
