This is my first rowing machine so I have nothing to compare it with, but I have found it to be very usable and a great place to start if you're not sure this is something you'll enjoy sticking with. I have no complaints: setup was a breeze, light enough to move around easily, and enough resistance to be effective. I'm sure a serious rower would need to step up, but this is perfect for my needs without having to spend a lot of money until I know I'll make a long-term commitment to rowing.
