I see it could easily mold. This is not for family use. It's more of a personal item. It's very tightly woven that it has a potential to mold and hold other nasty stuff. I am very happy to find it for my own personal use. Every one else in the house better not use it. I can trust it when I stand on it. It will not cause me to fall.
