This product is much quieter than other sharpeners I have had. It is conveniently compact super easy to empty shavings and sharpening can be adjusted to your needs. I like that the pencils have to be vertically inserted point down. I have had horizontal entry models that sharpened one side better than the other--caused me to over sharpen pencils to complete the job.
