i probably give more 5 stars reviews than most but that is is because I now study what I am going to buy and read other people's reviews before I buy to make sure In am buying the right thing. I did not always do things that way. This is my 3rd meat thermometer and is the one I should have bought in the first place. One of the others malfunctioned and I broke the other one. This one one is sturdy and much easier to read than the others, It has a newer design, works quickly and is compact for easy storage. One tip I can pass on is to to store your meat thermometer in a convenient visible place near your stove instead of losing it in a drawer packed with other utensils

I ordered a stainless thermometer because I'm old school, but they didn't have one so this was the alternative. At first I was doubtful that I'd like it, but it actually works really well. I only wish the back light stayed on longer. It's great with checking meat temps while cooking, the digits on the screen are easy to read, it's much more compact that the old stainless ones so it fits right into my utensil drawer with no snagging or issues, and I am sure it will be a great asset in the summer when we grill
