I wanted a lid because I'm actually going to use it as a clothes hamper in my husband's Memory Care unit. A lid keeps odors at bay. Most waste baskets with lids have a foot pedal to open them and it breaks within a few weeks. This is just a plain old manual lid and that's fine. I like Sterlite products and they hold up well. Walmart had the best price.

Great value and great performer

I had this exact same trash can for over a decade, but I broke one of the lid attachments. The new one I received recently is improved -- they have put a channel in the back to hold the liner and not interfere with attaching the lid. Also, the size fits a 13-gallon trashbag perfectly. And to remove the lid, just keep pushing back on it and it very easily comes off. Glad to have my old trash can back, only improved!
