Very quiet and tons of suction

After some research on the internet, I decided on the 14 gallon WD1450 variant that come with Ridgid's 'Auto Detailing Kit'. This turned out to be exactly the way to go. I do a lot of wood and metal projects in my basement and the vac's 4" diameter hose eats not only the dust and chips, but wood scraps that would never pass through the smaller diameter hose of my old 12 gallon Shop-Vac. The suction is incredible. Perhaps appreciated more than anything else is that it is QUIET for a wet/dry vac. Along with the lower dB's is the characteristic of the WD1450's noise. -It lacks the particularly annoying (to me) high frequency whine that a lot of wet/dry vacs have. I see that some manufacturer's offer 'mufflers' for their units at an additional cost. It would be a waste of money on the 1450. The tools that come with the vac are all pretty useful though i wish that with all the suction this unit has that Ridgid's large orifice 'Utility Nozzle' was as wide as their narrow but wider rubber bladed 'Wet Nozzle'. Still, I didn't have it in me to take off a star for an otherwise perfect machine. I said mine came with a car detailing kit. This is also the smart way to buy the machine. At least one of the big home supply stores sells that WD1450 variant only $20 above the basic 1450. The detainling kit if bought separately is $40. The kit's longer, smaller diameter and FLEXIBLE hose gives one a longer reach into the back of something like an SUV or van. The smaller nozzles get into much tighter places as well. The kit also comes with two brushes. the soft one is great for dashes and instrument panels and the stiff one is great on the mats.

Powerful and quiet

I use my shop vac a lot. Almost daily. I do small woodcrafts and I use my shop vac as my primary method of dust collection. So sometimes I'll have it running for an hour or more at a stretch. I bought this one a month or so ago to replace my previous Ridgid shop vac that lasted way, way longer than any reasonable person would have expected. I've owned maybe a dozen shop vacs in my lifetime. It wasn't until last time I bought a Ridgid, and I was not disappointed. I was amazed at how powerful and quiet this new one is. All the accessories I had already purchased for the previous vacuum plugged right in with no problem. I was back up and running the same day. I've never bought a bad tool made by Ridgid.

Great Wet/Dry Vac!!

We purchased our 14 gallon Ridgid Vac several months ago after our previous vac (another brand) failed. We could not be happier with both the size and overall performance of the vac!! We have found the vac to be powerful and very easy to move around any room in which we are working. We've also found it to be relatively quiet considering the suction power. Now that we've been using it for several months, we would definitely purchase again! Finally, we highly recommend it to anyone interested in a reasonably priced vac that performs extremely well!
