Returned due to useless footrest

Never got to try the chair because the footrest couldn't be tightened so that it wouldn't slide to the bottom position. Footrest/lockring is made of same black plastic and binds up when you try to tighten it. Seems pretty stupid, similar materials binding is first-year engineering stuff. Is that the American part of the design they brag about? Returned without messing with it further.
