It is laminated particle board, but very sturdy and looks great. Especially for the price. Definitely recommend over the other brands you can find on the market. The dowels are plastic and seem to be less likely to break than the wooden ones. The shelf compartments are bigger than the other brands too. The top, bottom shelf, and the sides are thick. Overall, a great product! Will purchase again if ever in need of another bin shelf organizer.

These are made with thick wood, very great quality and not to mention it's a beautiful piece of furniture. No matter what room you end up putting the piece in it works with every room. They are very sturdy and offer a lot of support. I have 137 candles on this cube shelf and I'm talking about the bigger ones from bath and body works and it doesn't even wiggle. I definitely recommend these cube shelves.
