Make sure you give yourself plenty of room for the assembly. I have never received a rubber mallet with item that I purchased before. As a suggestion, make sure you use it. If put together correctly, this shoe rack is very sturdy. Although, I believe I am going to anchor it to my closet wall just to be safe. I would highly recommend this product for anyone with a lot of shoes. I have so many that I could use at least 2 more of these. Yes, I have an issue. LOL
