It's made of sturdy plastic. The hamper arrived without any damage. I purchased it to put it into my bathroom behind the door. ( It's only available space.) I love the snap on lid that allows you to open it from four points on the lid. (Great design) The downside is it only holds one half of the dirty laundry of my previous hamper. But the need to open the door wide enough for a walker made this a perfect fit. The five stars are for the product, the size is only an issue because of my needs.I would definitely recommend this product.
