Two coats or one?

I was thrilled to get clarity about putting on one or two coats of the Solid Color Acrylic Siding Stain over previously stained wood after visiting the Cabot website. It is unclear on the can directions. On the can, in two places in bold type it says "requires a 2-coat application" and is unclear if it means new wood AND previously stained wood. According to the website, the product is a one-coat application. Suggestion to Cabot to make it clear on the can directions.

the only product i use

i'm a contractor and use this for going over clear coated siding (that need to be done every year or two, when people get tired of the maintenance). do the trim in a different color and it really stands out. houses i've painted 5 or 6 years ago look like they've just been cleaned or washed even though nothing has been done. bottom line, outstanding product, easy to apply, as advertised. i'm in western north carolina with high humidity and drastic temp changes in a 24 hour period. can't recommend enough. we don't spray, roll and back brush.

20 years experience with this product

Located: New England. Overall Recommendation: highly recommend Detail: Built house in 1987. It has red cedar siding. Original paint used lasted approx. 5 years. Then used different product via professional painter which lasted approx 6 years. Since then I have spray painted my home three times using cabot solid. (Approx. Every 8-10 year!) It weather's very well. Especially north side. North-west and east Gable sides not as well and south facing front well. I wash the house and did the little spot scraping needed before painting. Comparing the Cabot to the previous two major brands used, I highly recommend Cabot and would use nothing else. Also, this last time made decision to change color and was able to have Cabot tinted using the color formular of another brand.
