Nice quality mattress pad. I like that it has 10 heat levels and so many timer settings to choose, that it will automatically turn off. It has a good easy to use controller. The fact that this mattress is ETL safety listed and that it is low emf were selling points for me. The heat in this pad is excellent. I set it at the highest heat setting first to warm up the bed and then turn it down to a low setting because it does get quite warm! It is actually supposed to go under a blanket. I use it under sheet and a light cotton comforter. I think I might actually like this better than the heated blanket I also have but haven't been using much. I like the heated blanket for me to toss over my legs to take the chill off while watching tv, and I like the heated mattress pad for warmth in bed. Takes a bit to figure out the best heat setting at first. The "10" and other high settings are way too hot for keeping on all the time, but nice just to first warm up a bed. The lowest settings are best and plenty adequate for actually lying in bed. Do note the highest heat settings do get QUITE hot so I would caution anyone buying for a frail or incapacitated person to consider the particular circumstances and use appropriate care accordingly. Do read the entire instructions. ***If you are deciding between a heated mattress pad or a heated blanket, it's a hard call. You can always just throw off a blanket if it gets too hot. You can bring it around the house with you wherever you can plug it in. If you usually have a cat on the bed with you:-) , like I do, a heated mattress pad is under you but the cat is on top of your blankets or comforter so no worries about little claws making biscuits and possibly doing damage.
