I was initially worried about the message on the bottom about the getting hot when microwaved as I have had dishes that get absolutely scalding but they've been manageable. They do get hot but not anything crazy. I can still grab them after I've heated up soup. I like the color gradient and the scalloped edges really give them an elegant design. I would recommend these plates for someone looking for elegant, durable dish ware.
