- Removes Nitrates/Nitrites Nitrate selective resin traps and eliminates harmful nitrates/nitrites Prevents "Blue Baby Syndrome" - Methemoglobinemia reduces the ability of blood to properly transport oxygen. AFW Filters Water Bottle Install Kit Included. Comes with silicone lubricant, Sani pack, hardness test strip, and USB installation instructions for the perfect DIY install! To keep costs down, most people use a system that combines nitrate/nitrite specific resin with standard softening resin. These combo systems provide all the benefits of a nitrate/nitrite filter with the softening ability of a water softener. The lower cost of softening resin also provides a lower price than the nitrate/nitrite only systems. Controlled by the low cost Fleck 5600SXT, this system provides durability and efficiency in an economical package. The 5600SXT control head is metered, meaning it measures the amount of water used and regenerates only as needed!
