Rental boat perfection

Runs great starts right up only 53 pounds so easy to put on the rental boat wont go 100 mph but beats rowing all over the place goes about 6 or 7 mph easy to get the sea weed off the prop and for the money as good as any small out board.

Excellent Motor, Here's My Experience

The long and the short of it is that I recommend the motor. However, I have had a few issues along the way, but none that should keep anyone from making this purchase. Initial Issues: 1. When the motor arrived in its box, there was motor oil everywhere inside the cowling. The motor ships without oil, but there will be a decent amount of oil residue remaining in the reservoir, and it will leak. I did have to clean the engine area initially. 2. I assembled the motor using a Youtube video by Coleman as a guide. The assembly was not overly difficult. I added oil, put gas in the main tank, put the lower end in a trash can filled with water, and started the motor. The motor started easily, which was good. I ran the motor for approximately 30 minutes, and it suddenly died. I tried to restart the motor, and it would not start. I was smelling gasoline, which did not seem normal. I let the motor sit for a while, thinking I had flooded it and tried again. The motor started back up, but a few minutes later, it died again and would not restart. I knew something was wrong, so I did a little research online and came to the conclusion that I had a carburetor issue. I watched another Youtube video on how to clean the carb, and I got some carb cleaner and cleaned it thoroughly. I put everything back together and tried it again. This time, the motor started and stayed running. I have not had this issue since. I think some oil that spilled during shipping clogged one of the carb jets. If your motor does this, do not panic and clean the carb. However, I would definitely recommend running the motor at home to make sure this issue does not happen before you take it to the lake. 3. I also had a little trouble finding the proper fitting for the secondary fuel tank. I saw a review on Amazon that said it was a Yamaha fitting. I bought that fitting and it did not fit. I discovered through a Youtube video that it is a Mercury. I can confirm it is a Mercury fitting, and the secondary tank works splendidly now. 4. The motor does not ship with a Certificate of Manufacture. This is an issue for someone like me who lives in Missouri (or Texas). I had to email Coleman to get a copy of the document so I could get a title. They did mail the form fairly quickly. Overall Performance 1. At the time of this review, I have just completed the break-in period. With the exception of the issues described above, the motor has performed wonderfully for the most part. It pushes my 14 ft. fiberglass v-hull at a clip of around 6-7 mph at full throttle, depending on the wind/water conditions. It runs well, but you won't win a race. 2. I have noticed that after having it tilted on the transom during transit, it may not start immediately. I have found that using less choke improves this issue. 3. The vent on the main tank can work its way back down, but I use a clothespin to keep it open. Not a big deal. Conclusion If you need a small HP motor, get this one. It's a good motor.

Thanks for taking the time of the review, yes sometimes during shipping the outboard will loose some lower end oil. Also when searching for parts please reach out to Coleman Powersports at 888-405-8725.
