I have been using bread machines for years, and I love this machine. It uses 2 paddles to make a horizontal loaf as you would buy in a store. I have used a few different recipes from old books and the instruction book included and it works fine. I baked a few raisin walnut loaves using different settings to get use to what I wanted. The keep warm setting and the loaf size setting are a plus. A total of 14 settings makes for a big variety of choices. I also love the beep to tell you when you can add things like nuts and fruits. I am sure nubies to using a bread machine will need to work out some kinks, but this one is a winner so far for me. Remember no exception bread machine rules: Add wet ingredients first, then the dry ingredients. Then the yeast in the middle careful not to let it touch wet ingredients. All ingredients at room temperature always. Follow ingredient measurements.
