It does Not Work on black nails

I have a black German Shepherd and his nails are so dark that they are apparently OPAQUE because even with the bright light, I could not see through them at all to locate the quick so that sucked. The blade IS sharp enough to cut the nail but it is not smooth so it felt more like I was having to put a bit more force into it to snap through the nail and my dog doesn't have very thick nails as far as large dogs go either. He's actually a bit on the small side for a shepherd. It gets the job done but I would not recommend this product. I bought it because it was inexpensive and it turns out it's just cheap.
