For the budget price, this indoor grill is well worth it. It gets very hot fairly quickly - I only turned the temperature dial to about middle of the range, and it still gets quit hot and cooks meat thoroughly. I did use my own pot lid to cover thicker pieces of meat though, such as 1 inch thick steak. You can also use a large rectangular cookie sheet, just beware that it will get very hot. However it is not really smokeless if you grill fatty meats like pork belly and steak. It is still much better than an actual barbecue which steams smoke like a chimney. But my kitchen did get a little foggy since our kitchen ventilation fan was broken. Just make sure your kitchen is well ventilated and close the doors to your bedrooms. =)
