Perfectly thin with the right amount of salt.

Armour sliced dried beef is exceptional. It is perfectly thin. I use it in cheese ball recipes and it has just the right amount of salt. When I tried it alone, it is very salty. I would just adjust the other ingredients I was using if serving with crackers as an appetizer. Good quality, texture and value.

I am learning to cook and SOS as they called it in the Navy, is fairly easy to prepare and I think, is tasty and filling. My wife rinses it first to help desalt it as she hates a lot of salt, and this has a fair amount. I don't ever add salt to it but I do like a bit of pepper on mine.

I was very disappointed when I found out that our local Walmart and Albertsons have stopped selling this item. We love it for chipped beef on toast and for the holidays spread cream cheese on the meat and wrap it around a dill pickle, the family loves them and I was worried we wouldn't be able to have them any more. the price was higher than in the past but thankfully we were able to get some!!!!
