I painted mine with outdoor acrylic/regular paint brushes and filled them with red, white and blue flowers delivered from local Walmart garden center as well as several large live plants in nursery pots. they had great fitting cardboard liners to hold pots in place and support plants. they perked up as soon as unpacked and watered. the blue balloon plants were covered in balloons and had some flowers out of the box. after a day on porch with light sun I planted them late afternoon in the planter in full sun. the next day they had spread out and more balloons opened into blue flowers.

To begin with, this is pretty easy to assemble. You don't need any special tools. It just uses screws and wingnuts to hold the panels together. Putting it together by yourself can be a challenge as the panels want to shift, but it is doable. I did, sitting on my front steps. The bottom is open, so I dug out an area of ground for them to settle in. I also added split pool noodles to put on the tops as I cut my arms up a bit putting it together. For me, this planter has been a game changer in how I garden. It feels better, looks nicer than just small planters everywhere, and I'm more inclined to work outside. I planted Roma tomatoes and green peppers in one, corn and cucumbers in another. I am enjoying seeing the progress in my garden. I plan on adding more next year. I personally think they are worth it.
