It is lighter than a regular car seat but overall the seat is great. We use it with a footrest we bought online and our 5 year old did great for multiple road trips this summer. The seats get hot in the summer Florida days but we just stick an ice pack on it for a few minutes to cool it off quick. Typically it is much cooler than a regular car seat.
