Performance Tool W1255 2-Inch Jr. Jumbo Telescoping Inspection Mirror - Versatile and Extendable Tool for Precision Inspection and Maintenance Tasks

It's smaller than I thought it would be but it will work just fine

I ordered this Performance Tool W1263 34-Inch LED Extendable 2-in-1 Inspection Mirror and Pickup Tool to inspect underneath difficult to reach places and find small metal parts that were dropped in tight spaces or difficult to reach spaces. Unfortunately, this tool did not meet my expectations. There are a lot of positive features about this tool, but the biggest negative is a show stopper for me. The product description mentions that the LED can be rotated. The LED cannot be rotated, only the mirror assembly, which includes the light and batteries, can be rotated. The LED is fixed and does NOT face the direction of the mirror. Thus, when you place the mirror under any dark or low light environment, the LED does not shine on anything that is reflected in the mirror. This is a major flaw that all potential buyers should be made aware of. There are a few of other negatives. First, the description mentions the tool extends up to 34 inches. I could only extend 29.5 inches. Second, the description also mentioned that the mirror snaps on and off. There are no instructions nor online video on how to accomplish that task. Third, I could not open the battery cover on the back of the mirror to access the two CR2032 batteries. I tried pushing, pulling, pressing and even using mini flat-blade screw drivers in an attempt to pry the cover off. In frustration, I called the customer service phone number on the package. They said they would look into it and get back to me. There are numerous positive features. 1-The mirror gives a clear reflection without distortion, is held in place by a plastic frame and moves slightly within the frame but won't fall out. The mirror holds its angle and doesn't droop under its own weight. 2-The telescoping sections slide smoothly but are tight and won't slide down at the connections. The handle and shaft do not flex at all when fully extended. 3-Two small magnets next to the light can pick up small metallic objects. 4-The tool looks clean with no sharp edges, cracks, or sloppy assembly. It's well built. 5-The LED is bright but faces straight ahead, not up in the direction of the mirror. Something isn't right about this tool. The LED positioned not to face the direction of the mirror makes the LED and batteries almost useless. Then the two description discrepancies regarding overall length and mirror removal are concerning. There's also no written instructions nor online video. No customer should have to call customer service to find out how to remove a battery cover. Therefore, I cannot and do not recommend the Performance Tool W1263 34-Inch LED Extendable 2-in-1 Inspection Mirror and Pickup Tool.
