If you've done your research, you'll know that most places sell these in 'halves,' meaning that for a king or queen size, you will need to buy two king or two queen tatami mats if you intend to place them under a king or queen-sized shikibuton. The dimensions are listed in the description if you have any doubts. If you order a tatami mat and are disappointed by the size when it arrives, you have no one to blame but yourself. Having done my research and having slept on a shikibuton for years, I knew exactly what to expect, and I'm quite satisfied with my purchase. Some people may or may not like the smell, but that is up to personal preference. If you don't like the smell of grass, straw, or hay, you might not like the smell of these mats. I find it pleasant and not overpowering. These mats are firm, with a slight give. These are not packed with foam, so don't expect a foam-like feeling, but they aren't as hard as wood either. That being said, it is a firm and comfortable platform under a shikibuton.

The tatami mats came as described. Since we were intending to use the mats for underneath a futon, you need to pay attention to the dimensions. For an XL futon we had to buy two queen size tatami mats. These were on sale for a great price and we saved a ton of money buying through Walmart instead of another retailer. The mats have a really nice grass smell.
