The fabric of the dress is soft but sturdy, its not thick or even thin fabric, its just right, medium thickness. The dress lays nicely on your body, and is very flowy....well made! I received a L size. I usually wear a M size, but I purchased a L to have more room on my arms since it is long sleeve, this worked out well. And the length is great, its a cute look to wear with or without tights.
