This is a miracle! I have a Boston and nothing I've ever ordered fits her perfectly. I would imagine that anyone who owns a similarly shaped dog will tell you the same. I purchased 2 other recovery suits that are just completely inferior to this. Chest and length are the most important measurements! If the length is too short the straps connected to the collar might be uncomfortable. This is like lycra, or bathing suit material which allows you to stretch it around and sort of customize the fit with velcro. They give you an area to cut out for boy dogs but I had to cut the crotch area larger for my girl. There was no way she could pee if I didn't cut for her. It has not frayed or run in the area I cut. She had both knees done at the same time and there's no way I'm putting her through undressing and redoing it every time she goes out. This is a wonderful alternative to the donut collar. I highly recommend trying this to keep your dog from licking their wounds. If you think you're between sizes order both and return the wrong one. I ordered the small for her and it fits: L=17 and C=18, N=12. I might even suggest that a larger size isn't ideal and wouldn't fit snugly. I don't think I wouldn't have liked the medium on her. One of the other suits I ordered she can wiggle out of at night. Not this. It's almost perfect. The stretch is the game changer as opposed to the tshirt type material others are made of. Worth every penny!
