DHP Redmond 5-Piece Traditional Dining Set, Black/Beige

The set finally arrived last week. That was around 2 weeks longer than expected, but then shipping has had issues all across the spectrum since the pandemic. Just an FYI if you are ordering larger items. The set arrived well packaged, but the packaging had problems during shipping. A pair of the legs had come loose from their place in the packaging, and we found 3 spots where some minor damage had occurred, likely attributed to the dislodged legs. Pictures are attached, and the damage is minor, so I can easily repair and hide the damaged areas. The set itself is absolutely matched in finish and colors. The fabric used on the seat cushions appears like it will be very durable, and the cushioning is adequate and reasonably comfortable to sit on. The table dimensions are 39” W x 39” L x 30” H. The size is perfect for our smaller dinging area, which is exactly what we wanted. The chair seat height is approximately 18-19”, which is the right height to be comfortable for us. My wife thinks it's a very pretty set, which is the bottom line for me as far as taste goes. She likes the dark and light contrast between the wood finish and the seat coverings. There is assembly required. It took us around 2 ½ hours to complete. We both have assembled furniture before and found this assembly straight forward. The instructions included assembly diagrams and the hardware parts were numbered for easy construction. I would recommend that you utilize a deep socket for attaching the nuts to the bolts to make assembly easier. One caution is that the longer bolts which are meant for attaching the seat bottom to the back of the chair will also fit into the front chair legs. Be aware that there are 2 different lengths of bolts for each of these applications. We also found that one of the legs is slightly longer than all the others. This will be an easy fix with a fine wood rasp, some emery cloth (or steel wool), and a quick finish touch-up on the bottom. Overall, I can give this set the following ratings. An absolute 5 for the quality and ease of construction. The pieces are sturdy and well-constructed. For assembly, I give it a marginal 5 due to the possibility of the interchange of bolts, and the longer leg. Assembly also gets a 5 for the good instructions and the straightforward assembly of the units. I will not rate the slight damage since I can attribute this to shipping and not to the vendor.

I am a little giddy over how much I love this table in my kitchen! The table we had before was this large round oak piece that was nice, but way too big for our eat in kitchen. Our cabinets are also wood grain, so it was just too much brown wood for me as well. This Dorel Living Redmond Dining Set fits the space perfectly and really transforms the look and feel of the area. It's more modern looking than my old table, and I just love it! My husband is very handy and had no issues at all putting it together. He actually got it all done in less than an hour while I was cooking dinner! He did use a drill for the screws so I am sure that helped to speed things along. The directions are clear and concise and line out where everything is suppose to go really well. The chairs are the perfect height, super comfy and sturdy. I worried I would have issues with crumbs getting caught in the grooves on the table, but everything wipes off easily. It does show rings from glasses, but that just gives us a reason to use the plethora of coasters we have amassed over the years! All in all, I am very happy and we are enjoying our meals at it!
