Ameriwood Home Twin Platform Bed with Drawers, Ivory Oak

I want to review the entire Ameriwood Home Twin Mates Bed experience, starting from the packaging to the completed bed, because I believe that everything is of value. My unassembled bed was shipped to me by UPS. The package was 125 lbs, so it's important to have two people bring the box into where the bed is going to be assembled. And the assembly space needs to be large and clear of anything. The packaging withstood UPS and their lack of careful delivery, yet the way the bed had been packaged, there was no damage. The package had solid cardboard wrapped around each edge, and once I opened the main packaging, there was a second layer of solid cardboard wrapping each edge and Styrofoam throughout the package, protecting every piece from transportation damage. Just the extra attention and care put into the packaging told me that Ameriwood was proud of their products and wanted to make sure the buyer was equally as proud and satisfied. Once the packaging was opened, I found the instruction manual was well documented and detailed. Each piece was listed with a matching drawing of each item. All of the assembly hardware was equally as detailed and documented with a drawing, to ensure the assembler understood each part and hardware piece before staring the assembly. Throughout the instruction manual, I found that the diagrams for assembly were explained very well, and I only made a couple of small errors, because I couldn't understand exactly what was being explained. The complete assembly took me just over 2 hours to complete. Despite the use of MDF and particleboard in the entire bed's construction, it is surprisingly solid and well constructed. The drawers under the bed surface are amazingly spacious and slide in and out with solid metal slides. I would have liked to have some sort of headboard to attached to this bed, yet the bed is totally functional, especially with the added drawer storage. Some of the laminate edges were a little "ruffled" after the assembly was complete, yet they smoothed down easily. Being a kid's bed, I'm sure the laminate won't last on the edges long. Overall, this is a very solid, well built and functional bed. The storage drawers are big enough for a lot of pants, shirts, and other necessities. I would recommend it!
