Barrington 100 Solid Wood Pool Table, Burgundy Cloth

First I have to thank Spark Reviewer for letting me test out and give a review for this Barrington 100 inch Solid Wood Pool Table WITH pool balls, cue sticks, chalk, rack, brush. The accessories alone are a pretty nice package. Straight away this isn't slate. That adds a lot more weight and about $1000 bucks more for the table. Obviously slate is top of the line stuff but I will get into detail about this being very well made but it isn't slate. This Barrington 100 inch table looks just like you see it on the Walmart photos. When I have the table in my home it easily matches the look that you see on the Walmart.com website. The look caught my attention right away and I wasn't disappointed by this Solid Wood table. When I mentioned it was solid wood everybody asked me what kind of wood is it? Well, I didn't know then and I still don't know. I can just say its not particle board or any other types of wood. Its Solid wood. The table is heavy. Its not like a slate which can run up to 1000 lbs. but it is around 375lbs after its been assembled. One box alone weighs 300lbs. I thought it was interesting that in the manual they don't want you to return the item to the store without contacting them first. Whew!!! The package came via Freight and was delivered within a reasonable time. I have to account for the fact that my package came from ocean to Minnesota and through the holiday season. I was quite happy with that. Everywhere in the manual says you need 4 strong adults to handle this at certain points of installation. The lifting of the table requires four. The moving of the table requires 4. The legs will come in a separate package that weighs about 60 pounds. Nice and sturdy and very well done. The table is assembled upside down. So its delivered with the Top on the floor. If you can't have this product installed and you need to move and assemble yourself I would highly recommend setting the top of the table down on the floor. From there you can take out the accessories and you have just the table which is seen my photo. After clearing all of the cardboard you are then ready to build the inner box. This fits right under the table to add support. I was surprised that this was quite heavy also. The assembly was about a half dozen boards to form a box under the table and weighs about 100lbs. So you have the table on the carpet. You then assemble the box. Put the box onto the table with screws that require only a Phillip's and flat head screwdriver. Add support beams and then put the legs onto the table. Finally four strong people can then flip the table over and you are ready to play. The table comes with shims so you can balance the table or make the table level. All of the accessories are well made. Quality cue sticks that you can screw together. Nice cue balls that come in a sturdy box. I was happy with the brush and rack also. The rack is made out of wood. Finally , Customer Service at Barrington I must mention was very helpful in explaining the ins and outs of how this table works. They are right there with replacement parts or advice and I was happy with that seeing this was a large $ item. I would go with slate if your pocketbook can afford it as Barrington as some beautiful slate tables on Walmart.com. If you'd like a lower budget table this is quite nice.
