Does what I need in Winter City, USA

Here in Fairbanks, AK (aka Winter City USA), it gets below -40 F/C, and even high end WX stations have a floor of -40. This includes my Ambient WS-2902, and my expensive Davis Vantage Pro stations in the past had the same problem. Even with good Lithium batteries, constantly refreshed, the sensors, for some reason, wouldn't report anything below -40. These cheap units are great - it helps that the sensor is hard-wired to the display, so the display is inside, keeping the battery warm, and it particularly helps that the unit has so far faithfully reported the temperature down to at least -45F. I have an analog alcohol (mercury freezes at -38F) thermometer in the same place, and the AcuRite + analog are within 1F of each other. We should be getting even colder temperatures in the next several days. It would be nice if these units had an ability to interface as an external sensor for the Ambient station, and/or allowed for reporting real-time temperatures to Wunderground, Ambient Weather Network, etc. As it stands now I don't have any time series log of the temperatures, and that would be nice. But, I love that it works at least down to -45F , and I'm guessing it'll get down to the -55F we might be seeing soon. Oh, one more thing - your web page I think gave specs of a -58F lower limit, but the handout/manual that came with it gave a lower limit of -40F. But, I'm glad the handout/manual was wrong.

Poor Qualitey

Thermometers are not accurate, nor consistent. Temperature readings are different (by up to 2 degrees for the same unit between inside and outside. Also between all the items, the temperature readings are different (by up to 2 degrees). Very disappointed....I had trusted AcuRite in the past, but really disappointed.
