ERIC BURDON - SINGS THE ANIMALS GREATEST HITS

A somewhat misleading album title, the majority of this record consists of Eric Burdon singing lead backed up by War. Of course, there are some tracks that Burdon made famous with his first group, the Animals. The Burdon/War readings of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," "House of the Rising Sun," and "When I Was Young" are indeed effective and show what an incredible fusion they had. Overall, the record is a catch-all of Burdon/War tracks, and still it maintains a real appeal. ~ Matthew Greenwald, All Music Guide
