We have an open concept downstairs and have a desk with a computer in a corner. I did not want an office like chair in the main living space and this is perfect to not scream office chair. It isn't crazy soft but has a lot of support. We wouldn't use it if we were working 8 hours a day and needed to use this chair but looks and using it occasionally throughout the day or for an hour or two is perfect.
