Tempered glass doesn't cover entire phone surface

Screen protector does cover entire phone surface. However, the thick tempered glass on the protector only covers the touch screen portion of the phone. The black portions of the screen protector appear to be some type of flexible vinyl. I will be returning. Every time I've dropped my cell, it's the screen corners of the protector that take the blunt force and crack.
