Duraflame 4-Hour Firelogs Value Pack, 9 Count

I've used Duraflame logs for years and they've worked very well. These new "renewable" logs are lousy. First, they don't burn evenly or high so all I get is small pockets of flame. They also take a long time to burn out. I thought the first one might have been a fluke so I tried a second with the same problem. In each case I light the fire around 5:30 pm. By the end of the night they were still burning and I left them. In the morning, I'd find a large residue of the log in the fireplace. Poking it caused it to crumble to ash, but there would still be glowing ember in the ash... after 15 hours! I use these on the proper grate and I prepare the log the correct way, yet it still does not burn right. I will be returning the remainder of the box to the store.

These burn for three hours and are super smoky and smell like artificial junk burning. I do not believe they are any better for the environment than burning anything else. I have an open fireplace with proper ventilation and have even tried them outside and I won't use them with my kids around. This can NOT be ok to breathe! I'm going back to normal duraflame or another brand or real wood. I'll never buy these again.
