Aluminum service entrance cable is mainly used in branch circuits and panel feeders. The voltage rating for this electrical cable is 600 volts. Aluminum service entrance cables are designed for use in adverse weather conditions, with operating temperatures being 90°C in both wet and dry locations.However, type R cables can operate at 60°C when terminated to equipment for circuits rated at 100 Amps or less or if it is marked for 14 gauge through 1 gauge conductors. In addition, SER cables can operate at 70°C when the electrical cable is terminated to equipment in circuits rated over 100 Amps or when marked for conductors larger than 1 gauge.
