This is wonderful, the top unzipped and the bottom of unzipped, so what I did to make it waterproof and easily cleanable for the long run is the padding on the bottom is removable and I wrapped it with cellophane and also put a waterproof cover over it just in case there was ever an accident I have this for my five kitties for inside the garage so they can all snuggle together. These are happy kitties.

Smells weird and not for aggressive chewers

The bed is beautiful, but did have a kerosene like smell. Well.. I sprayed a little of my perfume on it because my puppy associates it with me to get rid of the smell. It didn't work. I was going to wash it, but my puppy is an aggressive chewer and he already started to chew holes in it. I would recommend this bed, but wash it first and if you have an aggressive chewer like I do, try and find something for aggressive chewers. Otherwise, it's a nice bed and looks and feels great.
