Purchased the RX-V6A to replace an older (about 20 years) version of a Yamaha home theater sound system that was showing some signs of age. My older Yamaha system was a 5.2, and the speakers transferred easily to the RX-V6A 7.2, however I still have yet to add the additional 2 speakers. Very happy with the RX-V6A performance.

Yamahoo !

Incredible AVR, great for TV %26 movies but really shines with music. Phone app lets me stream TIDAL by phone or Alexa. Highly recommend, bust bang for the buck.

The 20-Year Upgrade That Wasn't....

I recently set out to replace my high-end receiver from two decades ago, assuming that 20 years of "technological advancement" would result in a powerhouse. Instead, I found a unit that seemed surprisingly ill-equipped for a serious home theater environment. The Connection Conundrum The first hurdle was the hardware interface. I've been using high-quality quick-connects for years, yet this modern unit seemed designed exclusively for raw wire—an approach I wasn't willing to take. The Struggle: I had to downgrade to single-wire connectors just to get a signal through. The Dealbreaker: My factory-made quick-connects for the rear La Scalas were essentially rendered useless. Features: The Good and The Lackluster To give credit where it's due, the five HDMI outputs were a breath of fresh air, allowing me to finally retire my external HDMI switch. However, the honeymoon ended there. The interface lacked the granular, speaker-by-speaker fine-tuning I've come to expect. Power Output: While the sound was "OK," it lacked the muscle required to drive my high-end speakers properly. The Final Straw On night two, while attempting a deep dive into the settings to find some hidden power reserves, the unit decided to call it quits. Every time I attempted to switch inputs, the receiver simply turned itself off. After 15 minutes of troubleshooting a brand-new unit, I decided that the "future" wasn't all it was cracked up to be. The receiver has been sent on its merry way back home, and my 20-year-old veteran is back online and sounding better than ever.
