Needed a clip for a Halloween costume. These are decent, though a little flimsy. My hair is thick and I have to supplement the clip with elastic bands. Still, it is mostly doing the job.

Both ends of the clip are the exact same. You have to choose an end to pry open to for use. Each end is, therefore, a joint that has to double as the fastener. The joint is a tiny plastic bump that clips in to a shallow socket. This means: The clip will start to fall apart at the side you choose to use as the fastener. The plastic will wear out. The frailty of the joints/fastener will make this non-useable for those with very thick hair. When I used to wear these in the 80's, each clip had a joint and a very distinct clip that snapped together— almost like a coin purse. It was a secure closure and THAT'S WHAT THESE CLIPS NEED!!! I wish I could find these banana clips in a higher quality as I would pay gladly for a sturdier clip and locking mechanism. On the plus side: these hold my crazy and naturally wavy hair as I expected. I love the way my hair cascades down my back. It makes your hair look longer. My hair is prone to sticking up like an electrocuted mop and these clips are the quickest way for me to tame the mess. I'm past 50 and I don't care about my hair being in style— I just want to be something that flatters me, makes me look tidy and groomed, keeps the hair out of my face and is comfortable. These work, but NEED A BETTER FASTENER DESIGN.
