Great for deep frying.
I bought this item to fry stuff like potato chips in. I thought it would be better than other things that I had looked at for deep frying. I enjoy the size and depth of this cast iron dutch oven, and it really does good chips safely., nice and heavy... It is very large and you can fit a lot in it. The oil stays good when covered ( when cool ) and does not spoil or turn bad like I thought it would.

This is the most versatile pot I own and when I accidentally lost an old faithful pot in a move, I waited for a sale and snatched this bad boy up. It heats evenly. You can sauté veggies and add everything in for a soup or sauce in one pot. It's great for searing roast, then adding everything else and cooking it low and slow. It does great stovetop or oven. Best of all, the color matches my kitchen, so I just leave it on the stove all the time. It is heavy when filled, so use grippy oven mitts and be careful with the lid. I don't know why I feel this strongly about a pot, but I do. 😂

Pot heats up evenly and cooks chuck roast just right. It's recommended that the pot is not placed in cold water immediately after cooking and do not boil anything for a long time. Simmering is best way for cooking. A 2.5lb chuck roast takes 3 hrs for a melt in your mouth texture. It's perfect for me.
